Valley View University claimed a vital 27-24 win over Blue Crest College in a thrilling match in Zone F of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship qualifiers at Accra Polytechnic.
Valley View needed to beat Blue Crest to extend its’ stay in the competition following a disheartening 29-54 loss to hosts and defending champions Accra Polytechnic in the earlier matchup. A win for Blue Crest however, would have put debutants in a key position to book a historic quarter final berth.
Valley view played inspired basketball through four quarters as it was badly needed to put off a massive come back from Blue Crest who after going through long stretches of the game without looking anything like the team that had beaten Zenith University finally made something of a mediocre performance.
Unfortunately, time was not on the side of the debutants who looked to be in prime position to tie the score. In the end, Bright Masi and his teammates had done enough to rightfully earn a needed win.
Valley View plays Zenith University in the third and final round as Blue Crest engages two-time champions Accra Polytechnic.
