Takoradi Polytechnic’s outstanding display in the just ended Zone E qualifiers of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship has impressed former University of Cape-Coast (UCC) coach Isaac Mensah.

The qualifiers which were held at the institution had Takoradi Polytechnic secure a quarter final berth in the third edition of the UPAC Championship which is headlined by Rexona, after topping hosts UCC, 49-46 in the final game.

Mensah, who guided UCC to the 2014 Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games Basketball competition title, was disappointed with the turn of events following UCC’s failure to qualify but Takoradi Polytechnic’s play particularly in the final caught his attention most. He said:

“Looking at T Poly-Takoradi Polytechnic- against C Poly- Cape Coast Polytechnic…they should watch out for them because it looks like they have boys who understand the game and you look at their standard, they know what they are doing on the court. So at the end of the day, they deserve to win the competition”.
