Takoradi Polytechnic head coach has expressed his extreme delight with his side’s wonderful display in the just ended Zone E qualifiers of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
The Western Region-based side qualified to the next round of the Rexona-headlined Championship by going unbeaten in the qualifiers pummeling Cape-Coast Polytechnic 61-33 and beating host UCC 49-46 in the final game. The win meant T Poly topped the zone and will represent Zone E in the last eight of the tournament.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com, Ansah was delighted with the win which secured his side’s set participation in the quarter finals slated for April 14 at the University of Ghana in Accra. He said:
“It has been exciting; I think my boys have made themselves proud. They have played together for some time now…I thick all the players have been playing for about two years now so they have that unity there is that bond that is within them. So I am sure we won simply because we were prepared to win the competition.”
Accra Poly will take on Zenith University College, Blue Crest University College and Valley View University in Zone F on Friday April 1 where defending champions Accra Polytechnic’s quest for a third straight national title begins.
The 2016 UPAC Championship is supported by MTN, CAL Bank and Fanyogo in partnership with Basketballghana.com, TV3, YFM and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
