University of Cape-Coast (UCC)will face Takoradi Polytechnic in the final game of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Zone E qualifiers at the former’s basketball court.
The qualifiers form part of preliminary games to determine the last eight teams in Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament which will take place at the University of Ghana on April 14 in the capital, Accra.
Both teams move into the game with undefeated records following wins over Cape-Coast Polytechnic in the opening rounds of the qualifiers. University of Cape-Coast beat Cape-Coast Polytechnic 35-46 before the latter got pounded 33-61 by Takoradi Polytechnic.
Only a win separates which team qualifies out of the zone to feature in the latter stage of the competition. Takoradi Polytechnic will be hoping to make yet another appearance in the quarters after making it out of the preliminary stages in prior editions.
UCC on the other hand will be looking to avenge a loss in last year’s final zone game to Takoradi Polytechnic. However, both teams ended up qualifying to the quarters. This year’s edition features only one team from each zone in the last eight with exception of Zone s A, F and G where the second best placed team will join winners of the seven zones.
The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by MTN, CAL Bank and Fanyogo in partnership with Basketballghana.com, TV3, YFM and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
