DIENG

There were 12 nights in the NBA last night, but there was one play which dominated the early morning news.

Emmanuel Mudiay found himself dodging defenders a few steps behind the three-point line with only seconds left and his only objective at that point was to get the ball up.

When the ball finally left his hands the clock expired and there was nothing else to do but to follow the trajectory of the ball that somehow found its way through the net. The Congolese finished with 27 points on 10-for-23 shooting and 11 rebounds and it was the most memorable night of his first NBA season.

Mudiay said: “Before that, I was thinking of March Madness because anything can happen.”

Mejri’s big night: Tunisian Salah Mejri came out in the starting line-up for the Mavs and took advantage of this opportunity to make an impact. The Mavericks lost to the Trail Blazers 103-109, but Mejri had one of his best games this season. He went on to score 14 points on 6-for-12 shooting, grabbed 12 rebounds and spent at least 30 minutes on the floor in his second straight game.

Dieng, Wolves beat Sacramento: Karl-Anthony Towns scored 26 points, Wiggins and LaVine both added 23 each and the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Sacramento Kings 113-104. Gorgui Dieng had 16 points and 12 rebounds and his 10 points per game on 53 percent shooting this season are his career best.
