The 2016 Private University Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) Games will be launched on Wednesday March 23 at the El-Wak Stadium in Ghana’s capital, Accra. The multi-purpose sports event will feature Private Universities and Colleges in the country and take place between March 24 and March 27.
This year’s edition, the ninth, will have students from participating institutions compete in multiple sports disciplines including basketball. Last year’s event which was held in Kumasi for the first time had Zenith University College lift the trophy.
The games will be played under the theme, “Strengthening Peace Through University Games” and will be officially launched with a health walk.
Defending Champions Zenith University College defeated Pentecost University College in last year’s basketball final and will have a steep climb ahead to repeat as champions.
Zenith University will compete against 21 other teams drawn from several regions in the West African nation.
Created in 2005, the association with five institutions, PUSAG now boasts of over 38 private institutions.
The PUSAG Games is an annual event that brings together students from the various private universities in Ghana, to develop and showcase their hidden sporting and athletic talents.
