Marshalls University College basketball team coach James Okine is full of optimism ahead of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship which starts March 5 at the University of Ghana.
The UPAC Championship is headlined by world best-selling deodorant Rexona and will run for six weeks as 28 tertiary institutions battle for Ghana’s best tertiary basketball competition.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com after beating Zenith University College 25-20 in a warm up game, the young enterprising coach said:
“I am really optimistic about the future on our team and believe this year is our year to win the championship. The institution has invested a lot of money in to this team and we are not going to play for fun but for business. We are Marshalls and we win because is too easy.”
Marshalls University College plays 2016 Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Basketball champions University of Ghana, Central University College and Wisconsin University College on March 8.
The 2014 fourth placed team will seek to top the zone and secure qualification to the latter stages of the competition.
The 2016 UPAC Championship is supported by Fanyogo, MTN and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports.
