Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) ex-basketball team coach Clement Adu-Gyamfi is adamant anything short of a semi final place at this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship will be a failure.
The Championship, headlined by renowned deodorant brand Rexona, will take place between March 5 and April 16 and feature 28 tertiary institutions compete for the chance to win Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament.
The former head made the comments when contacted by Basketballghana.com ahead of warm up games scheduled to take place on February 26 and 27 respectively as preparations for the tournament.
He said,” This year our worst performance will be not making it to the semis because we are blending more of the young guys. Last year, we had a lot of veterans but this year we are bringing in more young guys who have the energy and zeal to play”.
GIMPA plays University of Professional Studies (UPSA), Ho Polytechnic and Ghana Technology University College in Zone A on March 5.
The 2016 UPAC Championship is supported by Fanyogo, CAL Bank and MTN in partnership with Basketballghana.com,TV3, Y FM and Ghana Sports.
