Ghana Basketball Association Chairman David Addo Ashong tops a list of high profile personalities invited to the official launch of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship today.
The live event will be shown live on top Ghana channel TV3 between 17:00 and 18:00 GMT and have the ultimate trophy to be contested for by 28 tertiary institutions unveiled. A special draw to decide game sequences in the main tournament will also be made.
The astute administrator will join a strong contingent from the Association including Chairman of the Greater Accra Basketball Association Benjamin Beifi and Vice President of the Greater Accra Basketball Association Kofi Amanyo set to make an appearance at the event.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com ahead of the event, he said:
“There is a tertiary institution representing so this is a comprehensive competition covering everybody hopefully we are going to unearth all the talents that abound at this level in Ghana.”
Boxing Hall of Famer Azumah Nelson and Youth and Sports Minister designate Nii Lante Vanderpuye are among other A-list personalities invited.
Basketball pundit Jake Morrison will host the event as rapper Lil Shaker and Gospel singer Kofi Sarpong are primed to entertain the audience.
The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona and supported by CAL Bank, MTN and Fanyogo in partnership with media outlets Basketballghana.com, YFM, TV3 and Ghana Sports.
