Accra Polytechnic Head of Sports and Recreation Princeworth Anane-Asare expressed his delight eligibility awareness ahead of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
He made the comments following a technical meeting held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday February 18 to deliberate on topical issues ahead of the tournament which takes place between March 5 and April 16. This year’s edition is headlined by world best-selling deodorant Rexona.
He said, “Very impressive, very educative. Now there is awareness and people are trying as much as possible to work within the system especially on eligibility.”
Accra Polytechnic go into the third edition of the tournament having won the past two editions flawlessly. Addressing Basketballghana.com on his team’s ability to win the title for the third time, he said:
“We are the West African Champions. The only challenge is that we just went for recess and we are now coming back so the team is not fully composed. We expect the better side wins, we will work towards it and time will determine the glory and success that will come.”
The team will play against Zenith University College, Blue Crest College and Valley View University in Greater Accra’s Zone F set for April 1 tip off.
