Providence University ended a three game losing streak by defeating Georgetown University 75-72 as Ben Bentil fell one rebound short of recording a double-double at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center In Providence, Rhode Island.

The second year Ghanaian NBA prospect was one of three Providence players to score double figures as he recorded 16 points and nine rebounds with teammate Rodney Bullock pacing all scorers with 23 points in 36 minutes.

The Friars victory moves them up to fifth in the Big East Conference with 19 wins and seven losses, one higher than sixth placed Georgetown.

However, the Friars almost made it four losses in a row as they allowed the Hoyas to reduce a 26 point first half deficit to just a point with little over a minute left to play.

Providence turned to Bentil and Guard Kris Dunn to score 12 of the team’s 14 points in the final minutes to stave off Georgetown’s comeback.

Both teams will be in action on Wednesday February 17 with Providence travelling to Xavier and Georgetown hosting Seton Hall.
