University of Connecticut Ghanaian Center Amida Brimah scored three points in a 58-63 defeat to Temple University who played their third straight game without Ghanaian Center Ernest Aflakpui due to a knee injury.
Amida who missed 11 games due to a finger injury he sustained in December, put in an underwhelming performance recording two rebounds and a block in UCONN’s first defeat after three straight wins.
The Huskies led by 12 points with six minutes to play but missed layups including one from Brimah as The Owls rallied to down UCONN.
UCONN coach Kevin Ollie blamed poor execution and turnovers as the reasons behind the loss.
“It comes down to execution, I’m the head of that as the coach, it trickles down to my point guard and then it trickles down to everyone else. We had six turnovers in the last six minutes” he said.
Aflakpui on the other hand finds himself on the treatment table again after sitting out the entire season last year due to a torn meniscus.
The 6 foot 10 inch Ghanaian, is averaging 2.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game respectively in 12 games.
