The 2016 Rexona Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is set to take place between March 5 and April 16. Conversely, a series of warm up games for participating schools to fine tune their skills will precede the much awaited tournament.
Counting down to tip off later this month, Basketballghana.com takes a look Methodist University College’s chances at claiming the biggest and best tertiary competition in Ghana.
The Dansoman-based institution having featured in the previous edition of the competition will be on the outlook for much better results than those recorded prior to this year’s edition.
Methodist University College (MUC) forms part of a strong collection of Greater Accra Region tertiary institutions set to play in the biggest tertiary basketball tournament in Ghana and certainly one of the best organized events in West Africa.
Together with defending Champions AccraPolytechnic, reigning Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) champions University of Ghana and runners up University of Professional, MUC finds itself in a tough pool to qualify from.
MUC will hope to qualify for the latter stages by securing qualification from group stages.
The 2016 UPAC Basketball Championship is set to take place between February 27 and April 16 and is sponsored by the world’s best selling deodorant brand Rexona and supported by CAL Bank in partnership with media outlets including TV3, Starr FM and Basketballghana.com and Graphic Sports.
