Pentecost University College (PUC) go into this year’s edition of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship with massive motivation for a top zonal spot following a good showing in their maiden appearance last year.
Ahead of the most anticipated tertiary hoops tournament in Ghana, Basketballghana.com takes a closer look at PUC.
The Sowutuom-based institution got paired against Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), University of Professional Studies (UPSA) and Ho Polytechnic in their last appearance.
PUC will hope for better luck in this year’s draw as they got placed in the proverbial “Group of Death”. The depth of talent the respective teams had made it all too difficult for the team to qualify for the main championship.
After narrowly losing to UPSA 28-29 and GIMPA 24-31 respectively in the opening games, PUC exited the competition without registering a win as a Sedem Tettevi-led Ho Polytechnic team inflicted a painful 33-32 win.
This year’s edition is set to mark the turning point in the institution’s basketball echelons.
The 2016 UPAC Basketball Championship is set to take place between March 5 and April 16 and is sponsored by the world’s best selling deodorant brand Rexona and supported by CAL Bank in partnership with media outlets including TV3, Starr FM and Basketballghana.com and Graphic Sports.
