WIZARDSJohn Wall wasn’t thrilled when he saw Reggie Jackson sign a five-year, $80 million deal this summer. The Wizards star is also a shoe contract free agent, according to multiple outlets. Apparently, Wall wants to see if he can make a better run at max earnings.

Cleveland.com reports that Wall has signed with LeBron James’ agent Rich Paul, who’s earned a reputation for getting his clients huge contracts, albeit after lengthy holdouts, like those of Eric Bledsoe and Tristan Thompson.

Wall is looking for his third shoe deal after signing with Reebok in 2010 and Adidas in 2013. His deal with Adidas recently expired. There’s been no indication of where he’s headed, though with James’ connections to Nike, the timing is certainly curious.

Meanwhile, Wall’s in the second year of his five-year max extension and could be looking to potentially stage a standoff in 2017 with the ability to renegotiate a deal. Wall has no leverage in such a scenario beyond the idea of the Wizards wanting to keep their franchise player happy. Wall missed out on the influx of cash that the new TV deal is bringing in.
