Pope John’s Senior High School and Junior Seminary basketball team coach James Okine declared he is proud of his team’s achievement in the 2016 Sprite Ball Championship.

Pope John’s placed third behind Mfantsipim School and champions St.Augustine’s College by defeating Opoku Ware School.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com in the aftermath of the tournament, the young tactician stated:

“Am proud of myself for the third position because Augusco-St. Augustine’s College- is a very good team, very experienced players and my players are starting from the scratch but because they have a good coach that is how were able to get this far.”

“It’s a big deal for me right now but I think from now till next year we will figure something out. We will work somebody out to be better like he is” Okine said in response to the absence of standout Guard Emmanuel Dery from next year’s championship.

However, he remained optimistic about the chances of the Eastern regional powerhouse chances of replicating their inspired form next year.

“I think next year it is going to be different and we going to work on somethings that let us down and I think possibly we will get there” he said.
