Accra Wesley Girls’ High School head coach Curlsbonny Joshua Owusu says underrating Aggrey Memorial cost his side the 2016 Sprite Ball Championship.
The Accra-based side, participating in the championship for the first time made a surprise run to the final game only to lose 8-9 to the Central Region Champions despite taking a massive 8-2 lead.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com, the lively coach said:
“The players were excited with the lead for the first time in a great competition like Sprite Ball and underrated Aggrey after the 8-2 lead.”
“I called a timeout to keep their mind on the game and to note them it wasn’t over yet but its a good experience.”
Accra Wesley placed second ahead of defending champions T.I.Ahmediyya Senior High School who took third place by beating city rivals Kumasi Girls’ High School.
St. Augustine’s College emerged champions in the boys’ division.
