Ace basketball pundit McMartey Lawer has described the just ended 2016 Sprite Ball Championship as a “cracker”.
The Tema Sharks Power Forward, who worked as a commentator at the championship, was in high spirit following a very successful tournament that had the whole country buzzing.
Speaking with Basketballghana.com, he said:
“The 2016 SBC was a cracker! I lost my voice running commentary because I kept shouting out of excitement at the level of skill being displayed by the various teams.”
“The two teams that ended up in the finals certainly deserved to be there.”
He then heaped massive praise on fourth placed Opoku Ware School for their magnificent showing in the tournament.
“I’ve seen the boys mature into good IQ players and considering the players left on the team, I strongly believe they’ll be a force to reckon with next year.”
St. Augustine’s College won the boys’ division after inflicting a convincing 37-22 defeat on Mfantsipim School as Pope John’s Senior High School took bronze.
Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion School defeated debutants Accra Wesley Girls’ High School to win the girls’ division.
