St.Augustine’s College basketball team head coach Lawrence Ampiah has pinned Dennis “Mantse” Dugbennu as the main reason for his side’s triumph in the 2016 Sprite Ball Championship.
The Cape Coast-based school secured its’ first ever national championship by defeating arch rivals Mfantsipim School 37-22 in the final.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com, the 2016 Sprite Ball Coach of the Tournament singled out “Mantse” for his splendid performances throughout the tournament particularly in the final where the latter recorded an eye-popping 26 points, 16 rebounds and 3 steals.
“Mantse promised the team that he is going to carry the team to the final and he did and the boys were determined to play all out that is the secret” he said.
Fellow Cape Coast- based side Aggrey Memrial Mount Zion School won gold in the ladies division ahead of debutants Accra Wesley Girls’ High School.
Coach Ampiah, who doubles as the assistant coach of the University of Cape-Coast basketball team, kept his winning streak going by securing gold and bronze medals in the female and male divisions respectively.
