University of Cape-Coast basketball team assistant coach Lawrence Ampiah says his side’s failure to clinch gold in the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games was by their own doing.
He made the comments following his side’s win over University of Development Studies to clinch third position behind University of Cape-Coast and University of Ghana.
In an interview with Basketballghana.com, coach Ampiah said:
“There were so many problems within the team we decided to let it go because most of them (players) this is the first time playing under such pressure from outside so its rather unfortunate.”
“We hope next two years we polish our act and come out with victory” he said when asked about the team’s prospect in the next GUSA Games.
However, UCC’s female basketball team wil represent Ghana in the upcoming West Africa University Games (WAUG) after securing first place in the female division.
Coach Ampiah, who doubles as head coach of recently-crowned Spite Ball Champions St. Augustine’s College, was thankful to the Sports Department of the institution for giving him the platform to exhibit his talent.
