University of Professional Studies (UPSA) head coach Emmanuel “Coach Ghana” Essel points out complacency as the main reason behind his team’s failure to capture gold in the just ended Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games held in Winneba.

UPSA lost to University of Ghana 65-49 in the final game and eventually missed out on booking a ticket to represent Ghana in the West African University Games (WAUG) set to take place later this year.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com after his side’s loss, the experienced coach said:

“It’s complacency they lost concentration and they were too rigid. They mad the game hard for themselves I could see that they tensed up in the first quarter and second quarter.”

“It wasn’t defensive lapses per say you see they don’t take instructions from the bench” coach Essel said when asked about defensive lapses being a contributory factor in the loss.

UPSA placed second in the competition ahead of University of Cape- Coast who took bronze in the male division.
