T.I. Ahmediyya female basketball team coach Ahmed Baffoe has waded into the controversial issue of officiating in the just ended 2016 Sprite Ball Championship.

The two-time winning coach expressed his displeasure with officiating particularly in his side’s semi final 8-12 loss to Accra Wesley Girls’ High School.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com, he said:

“I think it was the match against Accra Wesley Girls’ in the semifinals which didn’t go down well with me and my technical team. I think it was a raw deal from the officials”.

“Talking about officiating, I think it wasn’t too bad but when you have one or two refereeing decisions go against you it affects the general psyche of the team.”

However, he quickly noted that the current team did not measure to the standard of past rosters.

“It is true we didn’t have the best of team as compared to previous two years but my girls did very well” he said.

He praised tournament organizer, Rite Sports Limited for hosting an excellent tournament and promised to come back stronger next year.

T.I.Ahmediyya placed third as Aggrey Memorial won the ultimate trophy in the girls’ division. St. Augustine’s College won the national championship in the boys’ division for the first time.
