Day one of Sprite Ball 2016 has been highlighted by a series of shock results in the ladies division.
The first unexpected result came courtesy Accra Wesley Girls High School who beat T.I.Ahmediyya School 15-12 in Group B’s opening fixture. The school’s result was more special because it comes on their debut appearance in the competition. Two time champions and defending champions T.I.AMASS will have to win the remaining games and hope for favorable results in other matches.
In Group C, two time bronze medalist Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School were left stunned by Tema Senior High School as they fell 14-15 after overtime.
Tema took an early advantage in overtime after the scores were tied at 10 apiece through two halves of regulation.
In other results St. Mary’s completed a remarkable turn around to defeat Shama Senior High School 15-12 in their second game of the tournament.
The former champions were beaten 13-23 by multiple silver medalist Aggrey Memorial in the day’s earlier game.
