The draw for 2016 Sprite Ball Championship conducted on TV3’s ‘FastBreak’ over the weekend, made a big splash as juicy match ups were setup to the awe of fans.
The major story line after the draw was made was about the sheer number of teams drawn in the same group.
In Group A in the boys’ division, Mawuli Senior High School and Koforidua Secondary Technical School will once again meet in the preliminary stage as they did in the 2014 edition.
Over in the girls’ division, Group A is made up of 2013 finalists St. Mary’s Senior High School and Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion School alongside Shama Senior High School.
However, the stand out group which captured the draw’s “familiar” theme was Group C.
In Group B, St. John’s School was joined by Pope John Senior High School and Junior Seminary, Adisadel College and
Prempeh College.
Strangely, all four schools were put in the same group in the 2012 edition of the championship to add more spice ahead of game time come January.
St. John School beat Adisadel College but failed to defeat Prempeh College and Pope John Senior High School. Adisadel and St. John’s did not make it out of the group.
