The celebrated Sprite Ball Championship is primed for another prestigious award following its nomination for the ‘Best Executed Development Programme’ in the 2015 Ghana Sports Excellence Awards scheduled to take place on Saturday December 26.
The event will be held in Ghana’s capital, Accra and also has other renowned individuals and brands up for recognition.
The Sprite Ball Championship will be up against McDan Tennis Open, Airtel Rising Stars and MTN FA Cup for the ‘Best Executed Development Programme’ of the Year award.
Sprite Ball is an inter high school annual basketball tournament that has students from qualified schools compete in boys’ and girls’ divisions.
Since its’ inception in 2007, Sprite Ball has grown to become one of West Africa’s biggest basketball tournaments. The tournament’s next edition will take place between January 3-7, 2016 at El-Wak Stadium in Accra and have 26 schools compete for the prestigious Sprite Ball trophy.
Also nominated are former President John Agyekum Kuffuor and current Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.
Manchester United winger Memphis Depay and Bayern Munich defender of Ghanaian descent Jerome Boateng are among global sporting giants nominated for the prestigious awards.
The Ghana Sports Excellence Awards established in 2014 by Hallmark Plus Multimedia, are awarded annually to sports people who have been outstanding during the year under review.
