owass 2Opoku Ware School’s basketball team beat local side Patase Invaders 84-58 in a friendly game on Wednesday at the school’s basketball court in Kumasi.

The friendly game was the first trial match the school’s team has played so far and was primarily organized by school authorities to give players some game time action as they continue to prepare for next year’s Sprite Ball Championship.

The lads from the Kumasi based school led from tip off and maintained a vice-like grip on the game’s lead as they coasted to a comfortable win over the Invaders.

The team which begun residential camping on December 19 will break on December 24.

The 2016 Sprite Ball Championship is set to take place between January 3-7 at El-Wak Stadium in Ghana’s capital, Accra and will feature 26 schools compete in male and female categories respectively.

Since its inception in 2007, the Rite Sports organized event has developed into one West Africa’s biggest basketball competitions.
