Coach Daniel Sowah has expressed his profound joy about his team’s impressive form to win the just ended Rush Community Basketball Tournament at Accra Polytechnic.
The Osu Hawks defeated Tudu Warriors 62-47 in a highly tempestuous, physical game before handing Ashaiman Tigers an 80-74 defeat to claim the virgin trophy.
The Hawks won Ghana’s first ever community basketball tournament on the back of a six game undefeated streak and Power Forward Emmanuel Dickson was adjudged the best player in the nine-week long tournament.
Seeing his team win under very difficult conditions, Coach Sowah could not hide his delight about his team’s massive scoop.
“I will say am very happy.” “Every member is happy as well because this feat did not come easy. So we are all happy.”
When asked about his the secret behind his team’s success, he said “Technically we were disciplined that is our secret and that is what made us win the game.”
Osu Hawks received $3000 for winning the ultimate trophy plus souvenirs from sponsors as Ashaiman Tigers got $1500 as consolation prize.
The Rush Community Basketball Tournament is a GameTime Entertainment initiative and featured 10 teams in its debut season.
