ksts smallThe status quo remained unchanged as basketball powerhouses secured places at Ghana’s biggest and best basketball competition.

Pope John Senior High School and Junior Seminary safely made it through the Eastern regional qualifiers to book a date at next year’s Sprite Ball Championship due to be held between January 5-9.

They will be joined by arch rivals Koforidua Secondary Technical School (K.S.T.S.) in the boys division as Nkawkaw Senior High School have the sole prerogative of representing Eastern Region in the girls’ division.

The 2016 Sprite Ball Championship will feature 16 schools in the boys’ division and 10 schools in the girls’ division. Set for its’ ninth episode come 2016, Sprite Ball has been a distinguished event for promoting basketball in Ghana’s second-cycle institutions.

A part of the impressive citadel located in the East of Ghana, Pope John Senior High or “POJOSS” and K.S.T.S. have distinguished themselves from the pack by remaining an unbridled force in basketball. The pair have been a near constant feature in the championship since it touched down in the region some years back.

By earning a place at the championship, K.S.T.S. made amends for failing to make an appearance at last year’s edition where they surprisingly lost out to surprise package Mpraeso Senior High School.

Nkawkaw Senior High School have utterly dominated the Eastern Region girls’ basketball divison and the recent qualifiers was no different. The damsels from “KawSec” bookended their supremacy in the division by earning first place ahead of the likes of St. Roses Senior High School and Korbo Girls’ Senior High School.
