Accra Academy and Accra Wesley Girls’ will be at the Sprite Ball championship next year after safely manoeuvering their respective qualification paths.
The aforementioned pair will be joined by St Thomas Acquinas and Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC-Legon) in the boys’ division and St.Mary’s Senior High School in the girls’ division as representatives of Greater Accra Region.
The ninth edition of the Sprite Ball championship will take place between January 5-9 next year at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.
One of the biggest,best and oldest schools in Greater Accra Region, Accra Academy will compete in the nation’s biggest basketball tournament for the first time as they set sights on dominating their latest frontier.
Come January, the “Ble33oo” boys will pitch their strength against accomplished names Opoku Ware and Prempeh College from Ashanti Region, St. Augustine’s College and Aggrey Memorial College from Central Region and Mawuli Senior High School from Volta Region.
In the girls’ division, regional power house St. Mary’s and the historic Accra Wesley Girls School will represent Ghana’s capital region at the ninth edition of the Sprite Ball championship. This will be Accra Wesley Girls firts participation in the championship.
Both schools will compete against the likes of Volta regional champions Awudome Senior High School and defending champions T.I. AMASS from Ashanti Region.
Sprite Ball is the biggest and the most prestigious basketball competition in Ghana and one of the best in West Africa.
