Ketasco failed to qualify for Sprite Ball
Four time regional champions Keta Senior High School was on the receiving end of a massive shock as Mawuli Senior High School did the unthinkable by beating the overwhelming favourites in the Volta Region Sprite Ball qualifiers.
As a result, the basketball powerhouse will miss the tournament set to be held between January 5-9 next year in Accra.

The 2014 champions and four time finalists Keta, surprisingly failed in their quest to qualify for what would have been a seventh straight appearance in the prestigious tournament.

The current crop failed to re-enact the heroics of former players including household names like John Teye Okumoh and Sedem Tetevi who were instrumental in Keta’s charge to a 25-18 victory over Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC) in the 2014 championship final.

In Keta’s absence, Mawuli and debutants Kadjebi Asafo Senior High School will represent the Volta Region in the boys’ division and seek to continue the region’s impressive run in the tournament.

Perennial participants Awudome Senior High School will represent the region in the girls’ division.

The Sprite Ball Championship is an inter-High Schools basketball tournament in Ghana that seeks to unearth talents and develop existing ones amongst High Schools in Ghana.
