Celebrated Ghanaian actor Van Vicker played cheerleader for the Tema Sharks as they roasted Dansoman Wolves 80-45 to qualify for the semi-finals of the Rush Community Basketball Tournament.
The Tema Sharks knew a win over the Wolves will seal their place amongst the final four teams participating in the tournament after recording two wins and a loss from three previous games.Tema took a huge lead earlier on in the game by blitzing Dansoman 19-3 to end the first quarter in firm control of the game.
During recess, Van Vicker’s unmistakable figure pulled out of a red luxury vehicle to raucous applause from packed terraces of Accra Polytechnic overlooking the institution’s basketball court. Fully clad in his Shepherds- his former basketball team-jersey, he made his way unto the court and stationed himself on the edge of Tema’s bench after hitting high-fives with fans courtside.
He was spotted several times on his feet yelling encouraging words, clapping his hands and celebrating every made basket from Tema. His presence on the bench left Dansoman’s players star struck as the Sharks continuously pounded the Wolves to end the first half 45-14 winners.
Tema’s monstrous lead remained intact for the remainder of the game that eventually ended 80-45.
Vicker went on to shoot free throws and teamed up with some fans for a 2-on-2 scrimmage.
The last round of matches of the Rush Community Basketball Tournament will have the unbeaten Osu Hawks go up against the Cape Coast Bears and the Nima Vipers will play the winless Dansoman Wolves this sunday.
