The Tema Sharks booked their ticket to the semi-finlas of the Rush Community Basketball Tournament by beating the Dansoman Wolves 80-45.
Led by veteran Point Guard Gameli Dzorbeti’s game high 25 points, Tema completely blew their opponents out of the water earlier on in the first quarter by running away with a 19-3 lead.
Sharks’ Emmanuel Borsah complemented Dzorbeti’s scoring effort by chipping in 23 points of his own.
The Dansoman Wolves made the contest more interesting for fans gathered courtside including famous Ghanaian actor Van Vicker, by torching Tema’s defense with three pointers.
Guard Andre Adom was one of only two Wolves player to record double digits in scoring. His total output of 12 points paced the Wolves as they exited the tournament without recording a win.
The Dansoman Wolves cut Tema’s lead down to 18 points after converting on a fastbreak earlier in the second quarter but found themselves at the receiving end of three consecutive made field-goal off fastbreaks.
Sharks’ Emmanuel Borsah made a couple of wide open three pointers to give Tema a 35-5 win over Dansoman heading with just over five minutes left in the quarter.
In the final sequence of the second quarter, Dzorbeti completed a three point play to extend Tema’s lead to 31 points. At this point, Tema led 45-14.
Andre Adom of Dansoman scored back to back three points after timeout with time running down to end the first half. The second continued in similar fashion as Tema’s ball crisp ball movement made for wide open shots. Dansoman on the other hand, just couldn’t keep up and in the rare cases they did, they surrendered possession easily.
