After playing two games for the Austin Spurs in the D-League, Cape Verde’s Walter ‘Edy’ Tavares is back with the Atlanta Hawks.
The move was made under the flexible assignment rule, giving Tavares a chance to get some much-needed playing time.
Tavares sparked the Spurs in two wins against Texas Legends and Oklahoma City, recording two double-doubles in his two starts.
The 7-foot-3 centre averaged 16 points, 14.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks and 1 steal in 29 minutes, and President of Basketball Operations/Head Coach Mike Budenholzer thought it was about time to bring Tavares back.
Tavares has only played in two of Atlanta’s first 12 games, for a total of 2 minutes, and was in the inactive list for six games.
It remains to be seen whether Tavares gets some playing time when the Hawks play the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night.
