David+West+IndianaSan Antonio Spurs power forward David West Africa arrived in Ghana on Monday night to begin a six-day tour of the West African country, BASKETBALLghana.com can confirm.

The 34-year-old will hold basketball clinic in the capital and explore business opportunities while in Ghana.

The former Indian Pacers star was met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport by officials of Sleek Media Group SMG including chief executive Kenneth Andam as well as other top officials Ekow Daniel and Sandy Asiedu.

There were hordes of Ghanaian journalists queued with their lenses ready to capture the images of the NBA super star.

The ex- New Orleans Hornets player expressed his joy at his first visit to the country and was full of expectations.

“We all have an obligation to connect ourselves to the African continent and Ghana has been the place I have been keen to visit, “he told reporters upon arrival

“I want to develop some relationships and continue to develop my knowledge of the country and the continent.

“I think it’s a great start and I’m looking forward to the opportunity of meeting the Ghanaian talents. I am excited to be here and I look forward to enjoying my stay here.”

David West will visit some tourist sites in the country including the Elmina Castle and Nzulezo.

A mini four-club tournament will be held in honour which will feature teams such as Tema Youth, Tema West, DC Dynamics and Cape Coast-based Hoops Care International at the Aviation Social Centre on Tuesday.
