The picture of the 2015 UPAC Championship finals is getting clearer by the day as the teams in prime positions are making their mark before the drama ramps up.

With University of Professional Studies, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Kumasi Polytechnic having booked their spot in the final, Takoradi Polytechnic and University of Cape Coast followed suit after the Central and Western regional qualifiers over the weekend.

Takoradi Polytechnic won the zone after beating host Cape Coast University 24-22 in an entertaining clash at the Nkrumah court last Saturday.

Cape Coast Polytechnic turned out to be whipping boys after suffering two heavy defeats against UCC and Takoradi Polytechnic.

UCC began started their journey with a comprehensive 45-22 win over cross-town rivals Cape Coast University while Takoradi Polytechnic thrashed the same side 41-19.

The stage was now set for a massive showdown between UCC and Takoradi Polytechnic and indeed turned out to be an exciting contest involving two of the finest basketball institutions at the tertiary level in Ghana.

A sheer show of character, physical play and determination propelled Takoradi Polytechnic to steal the march off UCC to emerge champions in the zone.

However, the two institutions have booked their seat in the final which takes place in Accra from April 23-25 at the University of Ghana centre court.

As it stands now five institutions have secured passage to the final ahead of the Greater Accra zone two qualifiers on Thursday.

Accra Polytechnic will still have something to say as the games count down as they host Ghana Telecommunication University College and Zenith University College on April 2 with the games expected to be streamed LIVE on basketballghana.com.
