Central, Western tertiary institutions battle it out in 2015 UPAC Basketball Championship qualifier on Saturday.

The Central and Western Regional qualifiers of the 2015 UPAC Basketball Championship takes place at the University of Cape Coast on Saturday March 28.

Three institutions drawn from the two regions will battle it out for the two available slots from the two blocks.

The Nkrumah Hall of the University of Cape Coast will be the centre of attraction as the host battle cross-town rivals Cape Coast Polytechnic and Takoradi Polytechnic.

Battles involving the three institutions have always been uncompromising and Saturday’s round-robin contest will be no different.

The University of Cape Coast go into the encounter in buoyant mood following their gold medal feat at the 2014 GUSA basketball championship where they beat Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to the crown.

But they have Takoradi and Cape Coast Polytechnics to contend with in their quest to qualify for the national final in Accra on April 23.

Last week, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Kumasi Polytechnic secured their tickets to the final after a riveting contest in Kumasi.

The University of Professional Studies was first to secure passage to the final after beating Ghana Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in an enthralling final on March 14.

The UCC court will be buzzing with entertaining basketball action as the Central and Western Regional team swing into action.
