McMartey

GIMPA captain McMartey Lawer admits the University Professional Studies will be their biggest threat in the Greater Accra zone 1 qualifiers but claims the rest will be chicken-feed.

The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration will open their campaign against Ho Polytechnic in a group which also features Pentecost University on Saturday March 14.

GIMPA is fast-improving after their sterling run in the warm-up game against Wisconsin International College, strolling to 28-13 win at the UPSA court last Saturday.

The well-endowed institution will parade some of the finest talents which includes Jake Morrison, Kwame Boamah and Ali Baba Anas amongst others.

And captain McMartey Lawer, who doubles as the president of GIMPA Sports Clubs, admits UPSA could pose a real threat to their title challenge.

“Expect nothing but the best from GIMPA. Even though we’re perceived as underdogs we have experienced players in our team” he told BASKETBALLghana.com

“Our biggest test in the group is likely to be UPSA but once we jump that hurdle I’m sure the rest will be a roller-coaster run for us. The rest of the teams will be no match for us.

“We are coming to give it our all our best and may the best team win but I believe GIMPA will rewrite the script.

“The GIMPA team is unique because it has undergraduate, masters and modula students in the mix-up.”
