Kyrie Irving returned to action on Wednesday morning to help the Cleveland Cavaliers bounce-back from two consecutive losses following a 110-79 win over the Boston Celtics.
It didn’t take long for Irving to make his presence felt, after missing two games through a shoulder injury and seeing the Cavaliers fall 0-2.
Irving scored 18 points, dished out a game-high five assists, sparking all Cavaliers starters to score in double figures.
Legitimate candidate for Most Valuable Player of the season, LeBron James poured in a game-high 27 points as the Cavaliers improved their record to 38-24, trailing Chicago by only one game in the race for the Eastern Conference third spot.
James made history in the game by passing his former Miami Heat teammate Ray Allen to go 21st on NBA all-time scoring list.
The four-time MVP paid tribute to Allen: “He’s a guy I competed against and grew up watching, and to be able to team with him the last two years when I was with Miami, I learned so much from him. To know I passed him, it’s very humbling.”
