Salifu Jaman

Mfantsipim point guard Mishael Jamani Salifu was left speechless after he was named the MVP in the recently concluded 2015 Sprite Ball Championship.

The youngster scooped the top individual award after a fabulous performance during the two-day event at the El-Wak stadium.

He beat stiff competition from teammate Daniel Owusu, who was hugely tipped to win the accolade with the two youngsters turning on the heat in style.

Bompeh’s centre Christopher Appiah also received many plaudits for his selfless display in his debut appearance.

Salifu, a product of Garrison Basic won the heart of the technical team who bestowed on him the individual honours.

He failed to stamp his authority during the finals against Ketasco but his overall contribution from the start won him the award at the expense of his rival teammate.

Salifu was left speechless but said he was delighted to have achieved his long cherished ambition.

“I am even speechless right now. Emotions are running through me and I don’t know what to say,” he said

“But I give thanks to Allah, my teammates and the school for the immense support.

“Many people did not give us the chance to win the title but once again we showed our character and pedigree. This is a young team and I can tell you we’ll go places.”

Mfantsipim won the title for a record fourth time after beating Keta Senior High in a rather one-sided contest at the El-Wak stadium.

They managed wins over Prempeh College Sogakope, St Johns and Bompeh before accounting for the Keta-based school.

  1. Well you were lucky a-town weren’t involved in the tournament. They thrashed you big time in your so much hyped “home court” and you weren’t able to stop Mantse from scoring more points than the whole botwe team. Good win though. Keep it up next year you won’t be so lucky like that. Mantse is coming to get you.
