Rite Multimedia chief, Yaw Sakyi Afari, is promising a mega basketball fiesta during the 2015 Sprite Ball Championship which starts on Friday in Accra.
The hugely popular basketball event among senior high schools will roll out between January 9 and 10 at the El-Wak sports stadium.
Sixteen boys and eight girls’ schools will once again come into the picture seeking to either cement their dominance or to cause a major upsets at this year’s finals.
With participating schools becoming aware of their group opponents, coaches have started the guesswork and mapping out plans to outdo each other.
With the excitements building up ahead of this weekend’s showdown, Rite Multimedia boss, Yaw Sakyi Afari has promised another matchless organization.
“The basketball culture has become intense in Ghana and we’re very excited and looking forward to the 2015 Sprite Ball Championship,” Sakyi told newly established Starr FM on Monday
“Many of these players and fans want the opportunity to express themselves and keep pushing for the game they love.
“There are amazing packages for the participating teams this year and we’re looking forward to a fabulous championship.
“Last year we took individual award winners to South Africa and you should have been there. They visited the NBA Africa office in Johannesburg and had lots of fun.
“This year as well, we’re back in South Africa and everybody wants to be part of that experience.
Those who are voted for as ‘fans favourite player’ in both the boys and girls division respectively are selected to join the travelling party to the late- Nelson Mandela land and Yaw Sakyi explains how one can emerge winner.
“It’s that simple. It’s won by an individual most likely to have the highest number of colleagues present.
“It’s voted for by the number of Sprite crown corks bought at the venue with the one with the highest number of corks emerging the fans favourite player.
“So the more crown corks, the more it enhances your chances of winning and travelling to South Africa.
“It’s a whole new experience and we’re really looking forward to it.
It’s too early to start bursting bubbles and crushing championship dreams, but there is no reset button for the next edition either.
The twenty-four (4) schools have only added a series of twists and turns to their pre-season pursuits. Some will enter the campaign with legitimate title plans. Others look poised to snap strings of fruitless regular seasons.
The race to the 2015 Sprite Ball championship stage has already started, and not in the way the participating teams imagined.
The draw took place on TV’3 Fast Break last Sunday with some intriguing and mouth-watering encounters to look forward to.
