Yaw SakyiChief Executive of Rite Multimedia, Yaw Sakyi Afari, expects a big turnout at this year’s Ghana Basketball and Leadership Camp in Cape Coast.

Over 100 boys and girls are expected to take part in the camp which runs from August 17-14, 2014 with the number expected to swell given the level of interest shown by players.

The Adisadel College in Cape Coast will host the one-week event with participants expected to tour some interesting places in the coastal region.

This year’s camp comes on the heels of a successful one held last year in Accra where over 50 players took part in the seven-day exercise at Penfield School at Oyarifa in Accra.

The camp forms part of initiatives to continue the develop plan by the organizers with hopes that it will go a long way to help improve the player’s fundamental understanding of the game in the West African country.

According to the Rite Multimedia’s Chief Executive, Yaw Sakyi Afari, the program will not improve their basketball skills but also equip them with some useful leadership skills as young people.

He expects the numbers to sky-rocket this year.

“We are ready for another explosive basketball camp. Last year we had a great time and I believe this year will be better,” he said

“We expect a huge turnout for the 2014 edition of the camp. Given the level of interest shown by players since the news went viral, I believe we should have more number joining this year.

“Last year we achieved our target in terms of the numbers but we hope to exceed our new target for this year.

“This camp comes at a time that we have just ended the 2014 Sprite Ball Clinic with Chris Bosh.

“We believe we’re on course and will leave at nothing to ensure we develop and promote the game to the highest level.

“The players will also get the opportunity to tour some exciting places in the Central Region and so we’re really ready for the camp.”

Former Nigerian star Lewis Fadipe will headline instructors at this year’s come. He replaces German Jens Gailing and American Johnson who were the chief instructors for last year’s exercise.

He will combine effectively with local trainers Brimah Lawah, Emmanuel Quaye nicknamed Rubberman and Mathias Ocloo for the exercise.

The campers are expected to participate in a number of activities during their stay.

Fundamentals are the emphasis of the early part of the camp, followed by skills and drills.  As part of the camp, free throw and three point competitions will be held in different age groups.

Competitions will also be held during the camp with awards given at the end of the week to the campers that excelled in all those events.
