Tema Youth survived an early scare to grind out an important 64-60 win over Holy Family in their opening encounter of the Greater Accra Basketball series over the weekend.
Youth were given reality check by their opponent and had to dig deep to record the vital morale-booster win and set them on course for another showdown at winning the title.
Selorm caught an inbound pass from Cameroonian import Edwin in the left side corner and faked his opponent. His off-balance shot at the buzzer sailed cleanly through the rim
“Sometimes you need something like that,” said Tema Youth coach Emmanuel Quaye. “I think we were fighting so hard for 48 minutes against a really good team. Coming up with that great shot at the end – it feels great.”
“It was one of those games we have to do whatever it takes to win. I thought our offensive motor improved.
“Our guys got out and played with force and we’re pretty good when we do that.”
