SONY DSCPower forward Mavis Martey scored a game-high of 25 points as Accra Polytechnic crushed slothful Kumasi Polytechnic 89-7 in their opening game in the ongoing Ghana Polytechnic and Sports Association basketball competition on Tuesday.

The capital-based side put up an unrivalled display at the centre court of Takoradi Polytechnic to record the massive win against a sluggish side.

Parading experienced players including Grace Martina Doe, Sarah Esinam Adukpoh, Carlen Naa Adjeley and Afua Kobi Yeboah-Agyemang, the Accra-based school looked awesome and in total control from the blast of the referee whistle to the end of the fourth quarter.

Afua Yeboah- Agyemang contributed a double-double with 12 points and five rebounds and Martina Doe added 10 points while four other players weighed in with at least 8 points.

The result will serve as a real boost to Accra Polytechnic who are determined to rewrite the wrongs after a disappointing campaign two seasons ago.

The other game in the group will see defending champions Tamale Polytechnic battling out with host Takoradi Polytechnic.
