St Mary’s require a miracle to advance to the next stage of the 2013 Sprite Ball Championship after losing their first two games.
St Mary’s have just been beaten 18-12 by Sacred Heart in a taciturn affair at the El-wak stadium.
The defeat delivers another blow to the side who needed to pick themselves after going down 22-20 against Shama in their opening game.
The capital-based side looked promising from the blast of the referee’s whistle and in fact took an early lead midway through the second half against the Western Regional-based side.
But Shama produced an incredible ten minute spell to beat St Mary’s 20-22 in a close contest.
Mary’s must now beat Akosombo International in a must win-game to secure qualification to the next stage.
