Ghana produced an awesome display to defeat Tunisia 47-45 in the ongoing Afro U18 Basket Championship in Maputo, Mozambique on Saturday.
The Under 18 basketball team are playing in the tournament after being drawn as the wild card following their silver winning feat in Abidjan in July this year.
As is the case of the other sporting disciplines in the country, the team left Ghana on the day the tournament started thereby getting to Maputo very late, after the day one matches had been played.
Day one of the men’s competition saw the host nation, Mozambique being defeated by Rwanda 62-34 baskets while Senegal defeated a tenacious Gabonese side by 73-69.
In the other game of day one, Zone 3 champions, Cote D’Ivoire beat Angola by 60-51.
Ghana falls under zone three of Afrobasketball alongside Cote D’Ivoire, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Togo, Nigeria and Niger.
Captain Cyril Clarke once again showed class and power play as he inspired the side to coast to the narrow victory.
