Chief Executive Officer of Rite Multimedia, Yaw Sakyi Afari, reckons Dansoman and Kaneshie are his sure bet to win the 2011 Indomie Community Dunks.
The final rolls out at the Aviation Social Centre on Saturday October 1 as the competition promises to bring the best out of the participating teams.
The tough-talk has begun in earnest with coaches and players burning their chest with optimism going into the final play.
This season has seen some upsets and emerging forces in the competition with the likes of Ashaiman forcing pundits to rewrite the scripts with superlative performances that has made them one of the serious challengers for the title.
They come up against a very resolute and young Dansoman side that has not looked back since they won their opening game at the group phase against James Town, going ahead to win the last three matches on the road.
Defending champions Kaneshie seems to be playing mouse and cat games at the competition and could scale the hurdle against Maamobi-Nima in their semi-final clash on Saturday and the famous renowned entertainment TV host shares in the popular belief.
“It’s difficult to tell because strong teams like maiden winners Cantonment and Ridge who are coached by experienced Braimah Lawah were kicked out of the competition and so it’s looking like Dansoman or Kaneshie”. Afari said on TV3 Talk Sports on Wednesday morning.
“You cannot underestimate any team at this stage because there have been some shocks. Who could have imagined Ashaiman would get to this stage? he asked
“This is a side that failed to gone past the quarter final stages in the past but they have improved tremendously and are now in the semi-finals and so clearly they won’t be pushovers”.
“I assure all basketball fans who will throng Aviation on Saturday that they won’t regrets as we have a great package for them. The games will be interspersed with great tunes from some of our top-notch artistes in the country”. he added.
