He wasn’t exactly the chief architect for Kumasi Polytechnic but team captain Hackman rocked fans to an African beat with his displays over the weekend in the zone C of the Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics (UPAC) basketball championship.

The man popularly referred to as ‘Bongo’ was instrumental in helping the side clinched the deal on home soil with some swash buckling and riveting performance.

He was involved in two of the three matches. He missed the opening 41-19 thumping of Christian Service University College but when he got involved in the subsequent games against Garden City University College and Sunyani Polytechnic; his presence was duly felt and got fans onto their feet with his tenacity and power play.

K-poly’s Pope was the chief sniper at the one-day competition with young Charles dictating the pace from the centre of the court but it was the performance of the ‘show-man’ that was the biggest story at the centre court of Kumasi Polytechnic.

‘We’re very thrilled with our victory and I want to send a strong message to the other institutions we’re coming to Accra for the title’. an elated Hackman told BASKETBALLghana.com’

We’ve shown beyond all reasonable doubt that we’ll be a side to beat and any side that underrate us will do so at their own peril.

The side will join five others for Saturday’s grand finale at the main basketball court of the University of Ghana with massive expectations on their shoulders.

The tough-talking point guard was full of praise for his team-mates and urged them to aim the ultimate.

‘I want to say a big thank you to my colleagues for their performance and I’m hopeful that the team spirit is very high now and we’ll count on that to win the national title’.

‘They showed a lot of courage in front of the home supporters whom I must say also played a crucial role in helping us to win. We’re very proud of them and we hope to make them even happier in Accra’.
