Sunyani Senior High School have capped an incredible day by lifting the prestigious 2010 Sprite Ball Championship in the Brong Ahafo for the first time in both the boys and girls division in front of a packed crowd.
Displaying sheer brilliance, team spirit and character, the home side played as if their very lives depended on it and won all their matches enroute to be crowned champions on Friday.
The games in the Brong Ahafo region lived up to its pre-match hype as the participating schools exhibited some amazing basketball skills on the court to the charging of the spectators who kept singing and chanting to inspire their team to success.
Susec boys were a delight to watch as the showcased pure ingenuity on the court and they made the game looked so easy that it was almost as if their opponent were mere passengers in the game.
With star players Nathan, Kelvin and Beast displaying abundant skills on the court, it was obvious the host were in for the title.
They clipped St James 26-11 in the finals to lift the competition in the boys division. But just before that their girls’ counterpart had accounted for Techiman Girls in another mind-blowing encounter to win the competition.
It was certainly double joy for the host who for the books has become the first school in the Sprite Ball Championship to have both their boys and girls represented at the national event.
Abesim based St James boys and Techiman Girls also qualified for the grand finale in Accra by virtue of the fact that they placed second in their respective divisions.
