They may not have performed amicably well last year in the Volta region, but they caused the biggest upset in 2009 when they beat highly fancied and reigning champions Keta Senior High in the prestigious Sprite Ball Championship.

Awudome Senior High remains the only side in the region which dished a painful 10-5 victory over the defending champions in the competition last year at the Ho stadium and they will be keen to replicate that giant killing feat when they participate in the championship for the third time running.

The school which is very close to Tsito is one of the dark horses of this year’s competition  and their fairly tale story will come in handy when they battle over fifteen schools in the region for the right to play in the grand finale in two months time in the nation’s capital Accra.

They played their best last year but their best certainly wasn’t enough as they failed to qualify from the region. Instead it was Ketasco and their perennial rivals Keta Business School (Ketabusco) who reigned supreme alongside Kpando Technical School who represented the respected region following their stellar display.

Awudome say this year will be a different story as they’ve vowed to shock pundits and be counted among the best in the region.

The 2010 edition of the regional qualifiers for the Sprite Ball Championship begins from the Volta region on Saturday October 16 at Mawuko Girls Senior High where expectations have reached fever-pitch among the teeming fans.
