Ghana’s deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Hon. Nii Nortey Duah has confirmed government plans to construct a multi-ultra basketball court at the ten regional capitals in the West African Country.

The Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku Constituency who was the Special Guest of Honour at last week’s grand finale of season-2 of Community Dunks claimed among other litany of promises, that government had already secured the financial backing from giant mining company Goldfields Company to start the project.

He said the ministry will cut the sod at the University of Ghana in two weeks time to mark the beginning of a new era of providing quality facility for the ever-growing sport in the West Africa sub-region.

‘I can assure you that we’re very much committed to develop the game and that’s why I’m very delighted to inform you that we’ve secured the financial backing from Goldfields Ghana Limited to start the construction of at least ten modern basketball facilities in all the regional capitals of Ghana’. Nortey said amidst cheers and applause from fans and players.

‘We’re very happy with the achievement of Rite Multimedia for how far they’ve heightened the interest of the game in the country and we as a government will continue to offer our unflinching support to them and engage them on how best to help in the development and promotion of the sport’.

Kaneshie emerged champions in the one-month championships after their comeback victory over host Legon while debutant Teshie-Nungua placed bagged bronze following their success over Maamobi-Nima over the weekend.
